License Plate - 4564 Shingo Mushi
Original JDM Tsurikawa License Plate
Japanese license plates are over played? Well, we got sometimes very cool for you!
In Japan, when you need to drive a car that doesn't have a valid Shaken (car inspection) or is not registered, you can temporary use a special number plate called "Kari number" (仮ナンバー, "Kari" means temporary). This number plate can be requested at your local city hall, and used from 3 to 5 days. It is very cheap, you don't need many documents and it basically allows you to drive pretty much anything on the road. There are different format of Kari Number but the most common on features a diagonal red line, random numbers, and kanjis related to the prefecture and the city.
Red stripe, grey zone
While the Kari Number is mostly used by garages to bring cars to the Shaken center, it also helps a lot of car enthusiasts who want to drive their car to the track or to a show and can't afford a trailer. Or when they want to go for a run in the mountains once in while...
Of course, this type of use is not permitted, but this is a grey zone and it is common to see modified cars with a Kari Number driving around. You know he is not going to the Shaken center haha!
JDM Tsurikawa boso version
Because the Kari Number is often associated to bad manners, we created our own version (which respects the official size, design and font type), with a special twist... The kanjis on the left mean Osaka (大阪) and the kanjis at the bottom mean "bosozoku" (暴走族). Japanese regular number plates can be customized but you can only play with the numbers. So people get creative! For this number plate, we picked very special numbers: 45-64. Which can be read as "Shingo Mushi"
4 > shi > shin
5 > go
6 > muttsu > mu
4 > shi
Shingo Mushi literally means "ignore traffic lights". This is the expression we use when someone doesn't stop at the red light. Because who cares about the traffic lights anyway! (^o^)v

FAQ
GENERAL
How to install my tsurikawa?
The only tool you need is a Philips type screw driver.
Loosen the 2 screws and remove the back plate.
Open up the strap and slide it around the part you want to attach it.
Stick the strap back in its original position, press firmly the strap layers together to make sure the screws sticks out and have enough thread to be screwed into the back plate.
Position the back plate and screw the bolts straight into the back plate to avoid any damage to the thread. Please be very careful on this point!
Please tighten the bolts firmly, especially if the tsurikawa is dragged on the ground, as the shocks and vibrations can cause them to loosen.
If my tsurikawa drags on the ground, how long will it last?
The longevity of a tsurikawa dragged on the ground depends on a lot of different factors (average speed, ambient temperature, quality of road…). We ran some test and did over 10.000Km without any issue. Some customers dragged their tsurikawa for more than 50.000Kn! In most cases, the ring wears out slowly, but sometimes it can also break suddenly if it hits something sharp on the ground. Please remember that our tsurikawa are super strong but are not bulletproof.
